Siem de Jong is back. The former Ajax captain has signed a three-year contract with the Amsterdam side, keeping him at the club until 2020. Newcastle United reportedly receive a transfer fee between €4 – 5 million.
De Jong made 244 official appearances for the Amsterdammers, in which he scored a total of 78 goals and won 4 consecutive Eredivisie titles, before leaving for Newcastle United in a deal worth €9 million. Partly due to a string of unfortunate injuries, De Jong would only play 21 games for the Magpies. He was loaned out to rivals PSV last season.
